El Paso Children's Receives $50,000 from Blue Cross Blue Shield for Diabetes Education Service

El Paso, Texas (November 4, 2019).- El Paso Children’s Hospital’s Zachary Bowling Pediatric Outpatient Diabetes Education Services will be the recipient of a donation of $50,000 from Blue Cross and Blue Shield on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 11:30 a.m. in the El Paso Children’s Lobby at 4845 Alameda Ave.

"We are pleased to continue our support of the effort by El Paso Children’s Hospital to help children affected by diabetes,” said Dr. Bob Morrow, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas Market President. “Their Nutrition Therapy and education program is making a difference by empowering children, adolescents and their families to manage diabetes in their own community.”

According to the American Diabetes Association, approximately one out of every 400 children has either diabetes,  Types I & II.  Roughly, 600 children in the region have Type 1 Diabetes.
