Curing Kids Cancer Here at Home

It was remarkable.

In 2014, on a day just like any other day, El Paso Children's Southwest University Blood and Cancer Center achieved a much sought after, hard to achieve, life changing designation from the National Cancer Institute. Children's Oncology Groups (COG) in the nation. COG is the world's largest organization that performs clinical research to improve the care and treatment of children and adolescents with cancer.  El Paso Children's COG is one of only 200 certified in the nation.

Best care. Latest research. Here at home.

That means that children right here at home are receiving the best care, the latest research and protocols, in a multi-specialty environment designed just for kids... in fact, it means they are receiving the very same protocols as those at St. Jude, or Sloan-Kettering or MD Anderson.

There are already hundreds of El Paso cancer kids receiving this life-changing care from El Paso Children's Cancer Center.  In fact, regrettably, they are seeing 4 to 6 new cancer diagnosis each month.

The Good News

The good news is that due to the combined research of clinical trials at Children's Oncology Groups, the cure rates for many children's cancers have changed dramatically. Many are up over 80%...acute lymphoblastic leukemia is now over 90%...non-Hodgkin lymphoma is at 85%...and more.

Not only that, but no more long hurried car trips, anxious air flights, expensive hotels, restaurants and cab rides far away from family and friends.  Now the best care is right here at home.
