Union Pacific Foundation Awards El Paso Children's Hospital Foundation $25,000

Union Pacific presents $25,000 to EPCH Foundation

El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation was awarded a $25,000 grant from Union Pacific in support of its Child Life Program.  

"Union Pacific Foundation has been a huge supporter of the Therapeutic Arts program at El Paso Children's. The railroad put El Paso on the map. There are many multi-generation railroad families in El Paso. It means a lot to have a company with such deep roots here continue to give back as part of our community. We are honored to count them as our friend." Said Dennece Knight, Executive Director of El Paso Children's Foundation.

In children’s hospitals, a Child Life Specialist provides emotional guidance, self-expression activities and coping tools appropriate for each child’s developmental level.

Child life specialists are trained professionals with expertise in helping children overcoming life’s most challenging events, they also provide information, support and guidance to parents, siblings and other family members they also play a vital role in educating caregivers, administrators and the general public, about the needs of children under stress.

“The railroad and El Paso are childhood friends, we grew up together. Whe have made major investments here in El Paso, and as we grow we want to make sure we give back to the community. We are very glad we partnered with El Paso Children’s Hospital and looking forward to seeing that room that will be name for Union Pacific.” Said Ivan Jaime, Director of Public Affairs of Union Pacific.
